"E-I-E-I-E-I-E-O... UP THE FOOTBALL LEAGUE WE GO"

The Cobras looked to build on their impressive start to the season against their strongest opponents to date in the 23/24 Premier Elite SYL football season.
The team got off to a bright start and formed much of the early running in the game. Noah Kenny latched on to an early through ball, flicked the ball past the Badshot keeper and was brought down just he was about to pass the ball into an empty net. The ever reliable Kenny stepped up, but the Badshot keeper pulled out a good save low down to his left and the ball trickled out for a corner- opportunity missed. The Cobras didn’t let their heads go down, and it was Kenny again who made a surging run behind the defence, squared it to the outstretched left leg of Jasper Hall, who’s shot cannoned off the Badhsot keeper. The following 10 minutes saw the Cobras continue to press for an early goal- with Leo Scianni and Kenny both going close to opening the deadlock. The break through finally came from the tireless work of Jakub Kulinski. A mix up between the Badshot right back and their goalkeeper, saw Jakub latch on to an underhit back pass, and he coolly chipped the goalkeeper from 30 yards. 1-0, right on the stroke of half time.
The second half began with echoes of the Badshot coach team talk still reverberating around Kings Head Lane. A closely contested 15 minutes was punctuated with hard tackles, scrappy passages of play, with neither side being able to get the upper hand over the other. Oscar Noto was called into action a couple of times- Firsty a tip over the bar from a long range Badshot effort, and then a smart save from a Badshot corner that the Cobras had failed to clear. The spell of Badshot pressure paid dividends, and the equaliser came soon after. A shot from the edge of the box hit the inside of the right hand post and fell invitingly to the Badshot striker, who tapped the ball into an empty net..1-1
The Cobras kept going. Scianni saw his free kick from the edge of the box miraculously cleared off the line, and then Noah Thomas swivelled 30 yards out, and hit a rasping dipping shot that cannoned off the top of the woodwork. The Cobras deserved to go back in front, and when Scianni and Kulinski combined on the edge of the box, it was Scianni who laid a lovely weighted through ball into Kenny’s path, who nonchalantly finished into the bottom corner. 5 minutes later, Harrison Cooper intercepted an attempted Badshot clearance. A composed pass into MOTM Scianni’s path saw him fire a right footed shot low down to the keepers left and into the net. The game was won, and it afforded the team some breathing space to enjoy the last couple of minutes of play. A superb second half performance considering the 22/23 player of the season Christian Castellucci had succumbed to an earlier injury, followed later in the half by Noah Thomas who took a whack on his right ankle.
Another great result and all round team performance from the boys. A result that sees them climb to 2nd in the table having won 4 of their opening 5 league fixtures.
