County Cup run continues!

The Cobras faced Portsmouth based Titchfield today who sported an unbeaten league and cup run stretching back to 2021.

Cobras made a bright start in the early morning sunshine and started on the front foot. With a high work rate and high press, they continually won the ball high up the pitch and were able to put Titchfield on the back foot for most of the 1st half.

Cobras opening 2 goals came from well rehearsed corner routines ???. The ball was worked well in the right hand corner for both goals and the resulting crosses were latched onto by Noah Kenny and Chris Flindall. It was Flindalls 1st goal of the season, and he became the 8th different outfield player to score for the Cobras this season. Kenny’s goal was well deserved for his unbelievable work rate up top. Not only was he a constant threat but he was an absolute pain in the backside for the Titchfied defence… a well deserved MOTM. The Cobras continued to dominate after the opening goals, and the inevitable 3rd came 5 minutes before the end of the half. A penetrating run from Harry “The wasp”Toon down the left flank, saw him skip past a couple of defenders before drilling a left footed cross into the box, which found Jakub Kullinski alone at the back post to fire home from close range…. 3-0 HT.

The 2nd half found a much more resolute Titchfield defence, and the Cobras found it much harder to break them down. However, the opening 15 minutes of the half was punctuated by 2 Jasper Hall strikes which increased the Cobras lead to 5. The second of which resulted from a driving Christian Castellucci run down the left, who crossed for Hall to slot home into an empty net. That’s 5 for the season now for Hall, and he sits top of the Cobras Goalscorers chart.

Titchfield mounted a mini comeback later in the half as the Cobras took their foot off the gas a little. Firstly Oscar Noto was called into action making a fantastic low save down to his right, and then 2 worldie strikes from the Titchfield midfielders sailed into the Cobras goal from outside of the box- no chance for Noto.

The game finished 5-2, and it’s into Round 3 of the Surrey County Cup for this in form Cobras side.
