It was with a heavy heart, that on the 24th November Paul Robinson stepped down as Chairman at BVFC after 13 years of service.
Paul joined BVFC in 2010 as the Manager of the then U7 team, who he stayed with all the way through until they reached the U16 age group. Paul took the team on to win various leagues and tournaments throughout the years, as well as developing players into many different footballing academies.
In 2013 Paul joined the Club’s Committee and took over as Chairman in the 2017/18 season, he continued to hold this position until he stepped down in our current 2023/24 season.
During his time as Chairman, Paul saw a lot of change within the club. From the outset Paul’s goal was to create a better footballing environment for all, improve the pitches and facilities at the Club’s home ground of Kings Head Lane, and also work towards doubling the participation of girls football at BVFC. All of which he achieved.
Paul was also instrumental in the training agreement with the Eastwood Leisure complex, which allows teams to train mid-week on a 3G pitch under spotlights. Not only does this support the maintenance and quality of pitches at Kings Head Lane, but seeing our players use facilities like Eastwood has supported the growth of numbers of players in our teams and also the interest in the Club.
Paul Robinson said, “Byfleet is a great Club with a great set up, we are the envy of many a Club. I wish the Managers/Coaches and Committee, our players, parents and supporters all the very best for the future.”
For everything Paul has done for BVFC we thank him and wish him all the best.
For the remainder of the 2023/24 season Phil Hanworth will take up the role of Chairman.
Phil, who has lived and worked in Byfleet for a number of years now, first became involved in the Club when the mother of a player popped in to his work looking for sponsorship for a new U10 team. Phil followed that team for some years after, and then when Phil’s son turned 4 he joined BVFC.
Since then Phil has been involved with supporting the Club and has also been an active member of the BVFC Committee. Phil supports the various events BVFC carries out, such as the Summer Tournament, the management of the Kings Head Lane Clubhouse and also in 2019 Phil set up the BVFC Mens team which he runs.
Phil said, “BVFC is a great community Club and is run by a great Committee. I’m looking forward to working towards its ongoing development, and continuing the great work Paul did.”
