We're delighted to confirm that Byfleet Village & Sheerwater have formed an Alliance that we believe will mutually benefit both Clubs and the local Communities moving forward.
Sheerwater have struggled over the years to get a meaningful children's' set up going and Byfleet Village despite attempts to get a meaningful adult section up and running bar our one team, have struggled to gain any traction.
Discussions have been taking place between the two Clubs for some time now, to formulate a plan moving forward.
The two objectives were quite simple
1. To get more children playing football locally and to keep them involved within the game
2. To create a pathway for players into mens football and ensure we keep players playing
At Byfleet, with the help of the Love The Ball coaching team, we've created a grass roots offering that is second to none, we have a fantastic Clubhouse and set up, that are the envy of many Clubs.
Sheerwater after many years of uncertainty and three years ground sharing with Woking FC now have a fantastic new 3G stadium complex at the all new Eastwood Centre in Sheerwater.
Part of the new agreement is that we will see the majority of our teams now train at the impressive Sheerwater complex and we're hopeful that many will also get to play matches there too.
What were our Under 15 Mustangs last season, will now become Sheerwater Under 16's, to create that first pathway, one that will be replicated for all Byfleet teams when they reach the end of their Under 15 seasons. This will also involve the potential opportunity of taking players into the Combined Counties Under 18 midweek league too, as well as Sunday football.
After many discussion involving Paul Robinson and Darren Cooper from Byfleet and Trevor Wenden and the team from Sheerwater, we believe that we've created some wonderful opportunities for players starting out on their football journey and those wishing to continue it.
We hope that you can all be part of and support this fantastic story that is about to unravel.
